Highland’s Denver Comes Alive with Summer Events and Festivals

The Highland’s neighborhood has become a thriving urban community with some of Denver’s best restaurants, gift shops and galleries.  This summer enjoy a sampling of the diversity this wonderful neighborhood has to offer by participating in some of the local festivals and events.

In the Heart of the Highland’s:

Taste of the Highlands – August 16th, 2014 from 3pm – 7pm – Treat your taste buds to diverse culinary delights provided by local Highlands Retaurants and food merchants.  Last year’s event featured Live Music and a beer and wine garden.  Details for this year’s event have not yet been released, visit http://highlands-square.com/Taste/ for more information on vendors.

 

 

 

In Highlands and surrounding neighborhoods:

First Friday Art Walks – Held the First Friday of every month, year round, from 5pm – 8pm  at both the First Friday Highland’s Square (32nd Ave. and Lowell Blvd.) and the Tennyson Street Cultural District Art Walk  (along Tennyson St. from 38th Ave. up to 48th Ave).  Feast your eyes on works of Art from local Artists and Artisans and sip wine as galleries and boutiques host open houses into the evening hours.

Highland’s Garden Village Summer Film Series – Highland’s Garden Village is an award winning, 27 acre, mixed-use development built on the former Elitch Garden Amusement Park site at 38th Ave. and Tennyson. Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, Sloan’s Lake – Saturday and Sunday, July 19th & 20th.  Enjoy a cultural experience honoring the ancient Chinese Sport of Dragon Boat Racing.  A Sport that’s catching on across the US, as well as internationally, with competitions and cultural festivals held worldwide.   The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival has grown from 16 teams in its first year to over Fifty teams this year.  Watch as teams of 18 rowers race across Sloan’s Lake in boats with colorfully painted dragon heads and tails.

Horseshoe Market – Saturday, July 12th from 9am – 4pm is one of Denver’s most popular Markets with over 100 Colorado vendors selling their art, handmade crafts and vintage treasures.  This year’s market will be held at 4345 W. 46th Ave. in the lot behind Olinger Moore Chapel.  For more information: http://horseshoemarket.com/our-markets/summer-market/
